The most serious event occurred on Aug. 26 on Flight 262, when the plane’s parking brake became engaged during the approach and throughout the landing itself, resulting in a rough touch down at Sacramento International Airport (SMF) in California. All four main gear tires blew out and air traffic control noticed a small fire and some smoke near the landing gear, leading the pilot to order an evacuation. Ark Hotel – World’s New Most Unique Hotel
The Ark project was designed by Russian firm Remistudio with the assistance of the International Union of Architects’ program Architecture for Disasters Relief. The dome-shaped hotel is constructed with wooden arches, steel cables and a “self-cleaning” plastic layer instead of glass. The slinky-like Ark hotel can be adapted to suit both land and water. It is built to stay afloat in the event of floods or rising seas. The 14,000 square metre shell-like construction of arches and cables distributes the weight evenly, meaning it can withstand earthquakes. Meaning “suspended in the air”, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Metéora, in the Pindus Mountains of central Greece, spans six Orthodox monastery museums. A total of two dozen were built in the 14th century but most of were destroyed during the Ottoman occupation and Second World War. A famous landscape from the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, Metéora provides a peaceful haven not only for monks, but also for tourists that choose to take a hike up the mountains to see these gems. All six monasteries are connected through asphalt roads and are accessible by steps hewn into the rock. The New Supercar Pagani Huayra
Pagani has released official images of its highly anticipated supercar Huayra. Car is powered by a Mercedes AMG built 6.0-litre V12 twin turbo engine, capable to putting out 700 horses and more than 1000Nm of torque. The top speed for the car is said to be in the region of 370km/h. Now if you have so much power and only 1350 kgs of weight, you could be quite sure to go from 0-100 km per hour in less than 3 seconds. While the Huayra looks like a rocketship from the outside, from the inside, it is done up in classy, rich interior bits. There is an old world charm about the leather draped interior of the Huayra.
